About ILSA

The Irish Learning Support Association ( ILSA) is concerned with sharing knowledge to support teachers.

The main objectives for which the Association is established is to enhance the education of all students through the provision of professional learning opportunities for teachers of students with additional and special educational needs.

It further aims:

  1. To promote cooperation , collaboration and peer support among all those concerned with supporting learning

  2. To enhance the quality of service given by Learning Support/Special Education/EAL Teachers through the provision of resources, lectures, seminars, workshops and webinars and podcasts with expert speakers

  3. To foster an awareness of the value of Inclusive Education Practices among all concerned with education

  4. To provide access to current research by publishing such papers, journals and newsletters as the Association may decide from time to time

  5. To engage with the Department of Education  or relevant State Agencies in consultations or in making submissions in furtherance of the main object of the Association

    This is achieved through the Spring and Annual Conferences, through LEARN Journal and resources available on the Association’s website www.ilsa.ie

 As a registered  charity the  Irish Learning Support Association (ILSA) became a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) in June 2022. The Directors of the Company are members of the National Executive Committee - usually the Chairperson, Treasurer and up to two other members
